Overview
Link TV is a television channel dedicated to providing global perspectives on news, events, and culture. After launching their video-based website ViewChange.org (see other project), their next goal was to harness the massive reach of iOS and Android mobile (including tablet) to provide an immersive, action-oriented experience for audiences.
Having partnered with Method to launch ViewChange.org in 2010, Link TV reengaged Method to design the application’s core experience and visual design look and feel. Our team's goal was aimed at creating an engaging, as well as intuitive news consumption experience.
Over the course of the 6 week project, we designed an array of rich tools for discovering news in a more exploratory way. For each story, viewers are immersed in detailed views with semantically related content, documentaries, native tweets, and blog posts from the country of origin. The app suggests additional topics to explore and directs reader on actions they can take from each story. The map view also allows users to filter news by location and across time. By enabling people to change the way they understand and act on the issues they care about, the Link TV news app created a truly elevated experience for consuming and engaging with the daily news of the world.
Role
I was the UX design lead on this project and worked alongside a visual designer, creative director, project manager and an additional interaction designer. My responsibilities included defining the overall User Experience for core flows, the Information Architecture and interaction design for key functionality.
